Last month Joe and I took a trip to Palm Springs with some of our dearest friends and their tiny kiddos. We didn’t do much at all and that was the best part. Enjoy a few images from that trip. I left my digital camera at home.

Ummm, please shoot more film. Sincerely, your friend Scott Andrew.  It’s amazing how exciting it can be to pick up film from the lab. Today I picked up some film from our trip to Palm Springs and it felt like Christmas morning. If you’ve only ever known digital photography you should give film a try every now and again just to experience how different the entire process it. Not only do you slow down while shooting but the anticipation of having to wait to see your images makes it all the more special. It reminds me of the feeling I had when I first fell in love with the magic of emulsion. Enjoy one image of the little bear I found at the Ace Hotel. More images to come soon… by Sarah 4 comments

Hi Shelly, I did process my own images but the color stuff wasn’t totally old-school with chemicals, etc. I forget the name of the monster machine we had but it was totally great to print late at night and wait for warm images to roll out of the machine. I (sort of) miss those days.

I imagine that you processed your own images in college (I did). Remember the magic of a color darkroom. I have a box of some of my old work that I secretly go smell sometimes to remember all those long nights printing film… darkroom chemicals, it may be weird but sooooooo good.

I love the texture that film creates. Also, I love the ACE!!!  Happy Saturday! I’m on vacation but thought I’d share a quick image. We’re staying here in Palm Springs, CA. We’re spending our days riding bikes, eating, and sitting by the pool. By night we’re listening to records and warming our feet by the fire because the desert gets cold at night! Enjoy. We loved the ACE and had such a good time. I think we’ll head there every year. Cannot wait to see your film shots. Cheers!  My apologies for a few delayed emails this week. Joe and I flew to the East Coast for an extra-long weekend vacation with my family. It was such a fun time full of sand, perfect weather, delicious food, and lazy afternoons. Here are a few images. those look yummilicious Sarah, although i would have a hard time deciding between the canolis or french fries! you, your mom, sister & neice look so much alike – awesome! gorgeous pics too!  If you follow me on twitter you’ll know that I just had a mini camping vacation with some of my best girlfriends. We converged on Big Sur from Puerto Rico, Santa Barbara, Oakland, and San Francisco. Thanks so much Yvonne! I remember now that Tiffany said you guys were friends. It was so much fun to meet them. Perhaps next spring I’ll be home and able to do more sessions – would love to photograph your kids. It’s always so busy when I’m there. Great to hear from you!!
