Thanks, Anna. She was so much fun. Yes, actually, I do get lots of natural light in the studio which is great but it makes it hard to shoot on cloudy/rainy days. For most of V.’s shoot I was barely using the strobe, really just filling and bringing things up a stop. Actually, that’s pretty typical for how I shoot with a strobe in client’s homes as well. It’s always nice to have a little more flexibility with light. Thanks, Anna!

Sheesh! V is gorgeous. Gorgeous! And so much personality. Sarah, is your studio one that works with natural light? Bc if this is studio lighting, dang, you’ve got that natural feeling going on! Wow..adorable little girl and AMAZING photos. Looks straight out of a jcrew ad!  If you’ve been to my studio you know it’s on the teeny-tiny side of the spectrum as far as studios go. It’s really just a haven away from my home (which is under construction – so to speak) as well as a place to meet with clients before and after my shoots. I rent from Activspace in the Mission District of San Francisco and I love it. Not only is the space perfect but it’s in one of my all-time fav SF neighborhoods. The spaces are rented out as raw (no paint, flooring, etc.) and over time people have added better finish (and sometimes worse). I love my space but the finish is not quite what I would normally want. I just lucked out and found a space just a few doors down that has a little better finish on the walls and trim. I’m a sucker for a really well done taping and plaster job. by Sarah 6 comments

Sarah! Love love love the new layout ideas! Isn’t it so fun to decorate and create new spaces?! I love the rhino, and actually thought it was covered in rhinestones (no pun intended). Looking at the actual link, I still love it, but if it were me, I would stud it with a few rhinestones!

Hi Anabel! I love those poufs, too. Unfortunately they are uber expensive. CB2 has a more accessible version for $79 or so. Wish I could knit them as well. You would need a gigantic pair of knitting needles.

Love the poufs. Wish I could knit something like that.  A little while back I found a really awesome designer named Eric Smith of idrawallday.com. I really love his style and work and quite frankly wish I could hire him to be my full-time designer. by Sarah 5 comments
