a few more of Miss V. | commercial kids photographer, San Francisco

I couldn’t help sharing another dose of imagery from Miss V.’s shoot recently here in SF. Even her bored face is pretty cute. Enjoy!

Sarah - Her mom would be happy to hear that. She’s just now starting the modeling thing. :) Thanks for the comment, Kisha!

Kisha - omg she’s so adorable! she totally needs to be a gap and ralph lauren kids model (if she’s not already)

Sarah - Thanks, Anna. She was so much fun. Yes, actually, I do get lots of natural light in the studio which is great but it makes it hard to shoot on cloudy/rainy days. For most of V.’s shoot I was barely using the strobe, really just filling and bringing things up a stop. Actually, that’s pretty typical for how I shoot with a strobe in client’s homes as well. It’s always nice to have a little more flexibility with light.

Thanks, Anna!

Anna B - Sheesh! V is gorgeous. Gorgeous! And so much personality. Sarah, is your studio one that works with natural light? Bc if this is studio lighting, dang, you’ve got that natural feeling going on!

studio inspiration | modern family photography, San Francisco

If you’ve been to my studio you know it’s on the teeny-tiny side of the spectrum as far as studios go. It’s really just a haven away from my home (which is under construction – so to speak) as well as a place to meet with clients before and after my shoots. I rent from Activspace in the Mission District of San Francisco and I love it. Not only is the space perfect but it’s in one of my all-time fav SF neighborhoods. The spaces are rented out as raw (no paint, flooring, etc.) and over time people have added better finish (and sometimes worse). I love my space but the finish is not quite what I would normally want. I just lucked out and found a space just a few doors down that has a little better finish on the walls and trim. I’m a sucker for a really well done taping and plaster job.

Sarah - Thanks for the comment, Carlie. The feeling is mutual! I love dwr but usually hover and wait for the sample sales.

:]

Carlie Statsky - Love your style as much as I love your amazing work! I’ve always coveted one of those poufs too….you can’t go wrong with DWR.

February 24, 2010 - 1:19 pm

Sarah - Thanks for the comment, Jessi! Now that you say it, it totally does look like rhinestones. Not a bad idea actually…could get a little tiresome tho! :)

February 18, 2010 - 2:17 pm

Jessi Sohl - Sarah! Love love love the new layout ideas! Isn’t it so fun to decorate and create new spaces?! I love the rhino, and actually thought it was covered in rhinestones (no pun intended). Looking at the actual link, I still love it, but if it were me, I would stud it with a few rhinestones! :) All the best to you and enjoy decorating!

Sarah - Hi Anabel! I love those poufs, too. Unfortunately they are uber expensive. CB2 has a more accessible version for $79 or so. Wish I could knit them as well. You would need a gigantic pair of knitting needles.

anabel - Love the poufs. Wish I could knit something like that.

new thank you cards, modern kids mascot + photos of the studio | modern kids photographer, san francisco bay area

A little while back I found a really awesome designer named Eric Smith of idrawallday.com. I really love his style and work and quite frankly wish I could hire him to be my full-time designer.

Sarah - Thank you, Meg! Your work is lovely as well!

August 31, 2009 - 11:32 am

Sarah - DRM I know how large your archive is so be warned that I am packing up my household/family members and moving them to SoCal to increase our chances of survival when the time comes.

August 30, 2009 - 8:45 pm

meg - love LOVE love your work. it’s simply AMAZING. ;)

August 28, 2009 - 1:51 pm

Daniel Milnor - Swert,

You rock. Can I move into your studio? Freeload for a while?
I make all my supplies out of petroleum products, yours are better, but mine burn for longer. Something to think about when we are living in caves and scrounging for food.
Keep up the good work. I envision total global domination for you.
