Large-scale posters by Debbie Carlos // art, inspiration

The other day I stumbled on the food blog by Debbie Carlos. I love her approach to food photography. She embraces the little moments of chaos and rawness of cooking. Her work is honest. I love that. From there I landed on her etsy shop where she sells bond paper posters (say that three times) at affordable prices. One of my favorite classes during art school was a 2d-design class in my first year. We used the plotter printer often during that class and it was serious fun. That medium goes really well with her work.

Hello, Ned! | modern family photographer, Chicago

I hope you had a lovely holiday weekend wherever you may be. I’m prepping today for a commercial shoot with another excellent kids company. In the meantime enjoy a recent portrait session in Chicago, IL with baby Ned. This little guy was such a great subject. His parents are lovely people and fed me some delicious chocolate croissants and coffee. Their home is amazing and incredibly unique. I hope to share more soon.

welcome baby Whistler, Chicago | modern family photographers

Hello there. I’ve been on the road for a little over a week (apologies if you’re waiting to hear from me). I’ve had a little family time mixed with a few really special shoots. One in particular was baby Whistler in Chicago. Whistler’s parents are dear friends of mine (and the husband) and we have been so happy to welcome him to the world. I can’t wait to share more!

little miss Arabel, traveling sessions, Chicago | modern kids photographer

I have the wonderful opportunity of traveling to Chicago to shoot a few times per year. If it’s a wintertime shoot I am usually a little obsessed with the weather the week before I arrive as anyone who has lived there will tell you winter weather can be unpredictable. On my last trip in late November we lucked out with an unseasonably warm weekend. I have a bunch of shoots to share from that trip that I will intersperse with Bay area shoots over the next few weeks. I’ll be posting more frequently so please stay tuned.
