I sent some film off to the lab a while ago and this morning discovered two images that I thought I’d share. This is Harper‘s second day home from the hospital. She’s five days old…and the balloons that graced her front porch the day she arrived. I just love the film. These are unaltered scans from the negative.

I hope you’re having a great week. I just saw the Picasso exhibit at the deYoung Museum here in San Francisco. I loved it. I think kids of all ages (especially 5+) would really enjoy the artwork. It’s childlike and bold and the sculptures are particularly awesome. Do you take your kids to museums?

This little girl was full of smiles for 90% of the shoot but she takes my breath away with that serious look…and those cheeks! I just adore her.

p.s. Just stumbled upon these Tibetan style wrap jackets on Tom Boy Kids. I love these and wish they made them in my size.

Kalon Studios // kids furniture

Kalon Studios

I just spotted the work of Kalon Studios via the Minor Details blog. They make absolutely gorgeous furniture. While it’s not inexpensive, these are incredibly well-made pieces. Your kids’ kids will use them and several generations of ikea furniture will avoid the landfill.

They make cribs, dressers, twin beds, and my favorite the Hut-Hut, ‘a playful reinvention of the rocking horse.’

I hope you had a lovely holiday weekend wherever you may be. I’m prepping today for a commercial shoot with another excellent kids company. In the meantime enjoy a recent portrait session in Chicago, IL with baby Ned. This little guy was such a great subject. His parents are lovely people and fed me some delicious chocolate croissants and coffee. Their home is amazing and incredibly unique. I hope to share more soon.

I’ll be out of the office the rest of the week. I’ll be checking in most evenings but bare with me until I’m back online again on Friday.

Hello there. I’ve been on the road for a little over a week (apologies if you’re waiting to hear from me). I’ve had a little family time mixed with a few really special shoots. One in particular was baby Whistler in Chicago. Whistler’s parents are dear friends of mine (and the husband) and we have been so happy to welcome him into the world. I can’t wait to share more!

I just walked into the studio from a lovely shoot in Russian Hill with a seven month old named, Wesley. He had one of the most unique nurseries I’ve ever seen; full of vintage toys and books plus a lovely Peter Pan wall. He was adorable and such a good model for me. I couldn’t help but to share two images of Wesley and his Mum. Don’t worry I have plenty with Dad and Wesley’s smiling face.
