Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing the lovely Edyta Szyszlo – a talented San Francisco based photographer. We had a fun afternoon shooting some updated bio photos for her company. Enjoy the sneak-peek and check back for more very soon. Thanks to Edyta, Lindsay, and Jenna!
p.s. I’m headed out of town for a photography conference in Las Vegas! If you’re another photographer headed to wppi, drop me an email I’d love to meet-up!

$1,000 says Ms. Keili can navigate the city of San Francisco better than you can. I’m kidding of course but this little lady has some serious “street-smart” skills. She is hands down the most outgoing, affable, polite, and down right sophisticated little kids I’ve ever met. Yes, I’ve said it. I don’t always make such grandiose statements but little Keili is totally amazing.

I’m really loving this simple and straightforward ad campaign by WP Lavori in Corso for Woolrich. The photographers are Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin, fine art photographers based in London. I read a short article about the shoot in the Dec 09 issue of pdn but you can see more imagery from the shoot here and I’ve included the behind the scenes video below.

Naturally, I meet quite a lot of kids. One of my favorite things about them is that their personalities differ wildly in kids of the same age. I was reminded of this when I met Jin and his family recently in the East Bay.

Hello again. I’m sitting in my sister-in-law’s house in Southern Illinois, having finally come up for air after an incredibly busy season. Thanks again to all of the amazing families and kids I worked with this year. I can’t believe the year went by so quickly. It was my first full year in business and it was way more exciting, challenging, chaotic, and fun than I could have ever imagined. I re-branded in the beginning of the year to Modern Kids Photography, got a tiny but totally sufficient studio of my own, worked with tons of great assistants, spent long nights in the studio (apologies to my husband), and had so much fun photographing all of the country. I can hardly wait for 2010.

I’m excited to say that we’re on Liz Stanley’s Say Yes to Hoboken blog today. I stumbled upon Liz’s lovely blog a few months ago and have really enjoyed all of her content from vintage kids clothing to modern furniture, recipes, and so much more. Add her to your rss reader, pronto.

Wow. It’s been a much busier season than I would have ever expected. I’m so grateful for all of the business this year and most importantly getting to spend time with so many amazing kids and famillies. This week I’m shooting in Chicago and St. Louis and then back to San Francisco for the a bunch more shoots before the end of the holiday season. Please stay tuned here for more info on holiday ordering, some unique gift certificates, and more!

Sometimes I have to pinch myself living in a place like San Francisco. We have such amazing access to a diverse array of locations within a few hours of the city. I have shot all over San Francisco from our beaches to chinatown to the greenery in Golden Gate Park. However, just outside of San Francisco you can find anything from dirt roads, treacherous cliffs, black sand beaches, quaint farms, dusty old towns, kitschy motels, and much more. Yesterday, I went on a quick scouting mission to Sonoma and found a few non-descript locations for my shoot on Sunday.

I had so much fun yesterday photographing a handsome young man named Ryan Nelson for a local modeling agency. We shot in three separate locations around the city but my favorite was outside of St. Francis Fountain in the Mission. Thanks again to the owners and staff of SFF for accommodating us and for making the excellent sundae! Thanks as well to Eugenia for assisting and to Megan and Annemarie for the incredible styling and wardrobe. Last but not least to Ryan and his mom for being so fun to work with! We hope you enjoyed the afternoon as much as we did!

Ok so maybe this is actually a Saturday morning in September but you get the idea. Last month I had the pleasure of spending a really lovely morning with the Lucas Family. You might remember that I photographed their wedding along the Russian River this summer. Dad, Alina, and I started bright an early, 7 am to be exact. We made our way to the Alemany Farmer’s Market in San Francisco. If you love food and live in SF you’ve been here. Alice Waters has been known to shop here. It’s an incredibly diverse market where you can buy fresh seafood, delicious breads and pastries, rare mushrooms, asian vegetables I have no idea how to cook, all kinds of seasonal fruits and vegetables, and even live chickens. Yep, live chickens.
