I hope you had a lovely holiday weekend wherever you may be. I’m prepping today for a commercial shoot with another excellent kids company. In the meantime enjoy a recent portrait session in Chicago, IL with baby Ned. This little guy was such a great subject. His parents are lovely people and fed me some delicious chocolate croissants and coffee. Their home is amazing and incredibly unique. I hope to share more soon.

I’ll be out of the office the rest of the week. I’ll be checking in most evenings but bare with me until I’m back online again on Friday.

Hello out there. What a busy month. I’m currently in Phoenix shooting for a totally awesome kids company, Boon, Inc (more about these guys soon). It’s amazingly hot here but I’m actually enjoying the weather compared to a chilly San Francisco. I’ve been working with such great team at Boon, hanging with a bunch of adorable little ones, and photographing in some lovely, modern homes in Phoenix.

If you’re waiting to hear from me, don’t fret! I’ll be back in the studio soon.

In the meantime, have you stumbled upon Pinterest, yet? I’m so in love with this website because it helps me organize pretty reference imagery for all of my projects. Head over there, now. ;]

Black Pine Circle School, 8th Grade Graduation | modern family photographer, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York

Last month I had the pleasure of photographing a group of talented, sophisticated, fun, and stylish 8th grade graduates from Black Pine Circle School in Berkeley. It was a lively graduation but we managed to do some graduation headshots and a few images in between. I don’t recall being this hip in the 8th grade. Enjoy!

I photographed an 8th grade graduation last night and was struck by how mature, stylish, and down-right gorgeous the 8th graders were – especially the girls. I don’t recall being very pulled together at that age and I’m sure there are images to prove it. Times have certainly changed! Enjoy a sneak-peek of a few of the graduates.

Simple. Lovely. Brit & Grant, Santa Barbara | modern portrait photographer, California

I’ve been excited to share this shoot with you for a little while. A few weekends ago I was photographing in lovely, Santa Barbara, California. One of my shoots was an incredibly gorgeous, kind-hearted, and talented fellow photographer, named Brit Mann and her charming and helpful photo-assisting husband, Grant. They are expecting the arrival of what-is-sure-to-be an amazingly gorgeous baby girl. I felt honored to photograph them during such a special time.

Since my trip to Santa Barbara was both business and pleasure, I dragged along one of my childhood bffs, Tara, to assist me with B&G’s shoot. Thank you Tara for being an excellent assistant and location scout. ;]

I’m the variety of photographer who loves to be busy and shoot all of the time. Throughout the year I have so many lovely shoots. There is however a small percentage of those shoots that are really quite perfect; meaning great light, great location, wonderful couple/family/kid who are in a receptive and happy mood. B&G’s shoot was one of those shoots for me. Thank you to Brit & Grant for such a lovely couple of hours. I’ll be thinking of you as you welcome your baby girl in to the world.
