I love books. I especially love photography books. There is something so much more intimate about looking at imagery in a well-made book. I’m testing this size out with this excellent template from Design Aglow. My family’s bindery in Pennsylvania is going to do all the printing and sewing – can’t wait.

Last year I had so much fun customizing holiday cards for my clients. Together, we sent out nearly two thousand cards, wow! This year there are a ton of options to do holiday cards through Modern Kids. If you still don’t see something you like we also work with two fabulous stationary companies, Minted and Mango Ink.

First, a few things about our holiday cards this year.

• We have 11 new designs this year (see them below)!

• Each design is fully customizable including text, colors, and even fonts

• Two card sizes: 4×5.5 + 5×7

A little while back I discovered a really awesome designer named Eric Smith of idrawallday.com. I really love his style and work and quite frankly wish I could hire him to be my full-time designer.

Eric worked with me to create a little kid illustration to use on various marketing materials. Check him out on the back of the postcard below. This little kid is the brand-new Modern Kids Photography mascot. He’s pretty cute but he needs a name so if anyone has any ideas, please comment below.

Eric then worked on a lovely little postcard that I can send to clients after shoots and slip into print orders. If you’ve had a shoot with me recently keep your eyes peeled for the card! Thanks so much to Eric for his awesome vision and for helping to spruce up the Modern Kids brand. Let me know your thoughts!

I figured I would include a few more studio photos as well. I’m still not finished with the place quite yet. I need some more shelves and some fun kids stuff (joe, the husband said he’d help me with a teepee). I’ll post more photos when it’s finished. Modern Kids Workshops: August 8th @ Fort Mason, SF

Just a quick note to say there’s still room in our August 8th digital photography workshop at Fort Mason. Our workshop is geared towards parents who are relatively new to digital photography. I will be teaching some camera basics, some of the tricks I’ve learned including how to get great results with available light, basic processing, and we will also be demoing a live shoot at Crissy Field. Here are the details:

This was shot with very little light on a typical overcast day in San Francisco. I will be teaching simple, inexpensive tricks on how to make better images.

Modern Kids Photography Workshops: Make better images of your kids

Over the past year, tons of parents asked us questions about photography, so we decided to host our very own workshops. These workshops will be fun, informative, and geared toward new moms and dads with dSLRs. All workshops are hosted at Fort Mason in San Francisco.

You will learn basic techniques for photographing kids, as well as basic digital photography tips on shooting and processing images. We will even demonstrate a live shoot. The only requirement is that you own a dSLR and have basic knowledge of photography.

Workshops are $175 and you will definitely come away with great tips and new skills for making better images of your family. I’m offering a $25 discount if you sign up by Monday, July 27th.
